JCMO Weekend Preview: 4 May 13

May 3, 2013 by

Shout to Jerry Gamblin for reminding me that my calendar I posted earlier in the week didn’t include any of the great things happening this weekend. Here goes:

Friday — Don’t forget the Gallery Crawl starts at 4:30 and is free.

Friday — Tonight there is an open mic night out at Canterbury Hill Winery.  I’ve heard it is a good time. For other live music options in JCMO tonight (or any night), check out this page.

Jefferson City Missouri Farmers' Market - JCMO

Lincoln U Farmers’ Market (JCMO)

Saturday — First, the Lincoln University Farmers’ Market (Facebook Page | Blog).  They have a huge selection.  Last time I went I purchased some gorgeous red tomatoes (much better than I could find at the store), green onions, fresh carrots, and spiced pecans.  I think I purchased a couple other things, but I can’t remember.  They also had live music playing.  Last year we bought a lot of organic chicken there too.  I would highly suggest you check it out.  They are open from 9 am to noon and are located here.

Saturday — The Master Gardner Annual Plant Sale starts at 7 am and goes until noon at the Fairgrounds.

Saturday — I have never been to one of these before but I think I will try to go: Zoo La La’s is having a “Petting zoo adventure” at 11 am at Hy-Vee.

Saturday — A roller derby bout at Sk8 Zone in JCMO (CoMo Derby Dames v. Cape Girardeau Roller Girls).  I’ve heard roller derby is awesome to watch — tickets are $10.

Again, this list is not comprehensive.  If you are looking for more stuff to do, check out the community calendars listed in this post. If you think I really should have included something that isn’t on here — tell me in the comments (or on twitter).

Thank you Stephanie for putting this Weekend Preview together. I may take my neighbor to the Petting Zoo adventure, and might try to take in my 1st Roller Derby event!

  2. Dayla — Thanks for reading! Maybe I will see you tomorrow!
