we have this treasure in jars of clay…
outwardly we are wasting away…
we groan, longing to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling…
while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened…
2 Corinthians 4:7, 16; 5:2, 4
Glorious Father, as I begin this new day, let my heart be filled with the hope and certainty of Your faithfulness. May Your glory, and the beauty of Your Creation in and around me, become visible to others through my actions, my words, my thoughts… May they in some way see You in me today, and Your kingdom, that which is eternal… Guard my heart, keep me from anxious thoughts: may I be inspired by Eternity and not discouraged by my own finiteness.
On this day, and throughout this day:
Let me put right before convenient
Let me put others before self
Let me put things of the Spirit before the things of this world
Let me put the attainment of noble goals above the pleasure of self
Let me put principle above expedience
Let me put You above all else
Guard my heart,
Transform it to be more like that of Jesus’:
A brave heart
A true heart
A tender heart
A large heart, with room for others
A heart focused and centered in You.
So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord.
And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him
as we are changed into his glorious image.
2 Corinthians 3:18
